We present and compare the use of the Digicollect platform for online fundraising year on year in a clear infographic. These figures are measured across all sites and organisations that use the platform for their online collections and in memoriam collections. What do you think? Have the average returns in the collection boxes increased much? And did we see an increase in donation averages, just like the figures on the Kentaa platform? Keep reading to find out!

Stable revenues for online collections
The stable income via the Digicollect platform demonstrates that online collections have become a part of charities' fundraising mix. The total amount raised through our customers' sites remained stable in 2023, with an increase of half a percent compared to 2022.
Collectors collect more on average in their collection box
The average proceeds from a collection box in 2023 were €305, an increase of no less than 39%! This is partly due to the average number of donations made per box. We saw a 25% increase to 14 donations per box.
24% of the collectors left their telephone numbers, so organisations could contact them with tips on how to collect more money in their boxes.
Significant increase in average donation amounts
Donors gave more in 2023 than in 2022. The average donation amount was € 16.55, 13% higher than a year earlier. This is also reflected in the donation distribution, where significantly more donations between €15 and €25 and amounts above €25 were measured.
This may be (partly) related to the increased use of Digicollect in Memoriam, where higher donations are often made in memory of a loved one. However, we do not distinguish between the two variants of our platform in our data, so this is based on what we see in our customers' daily use.
We see this increase across all devices, mobile, desktop and tablet, with mobile still having the largest share. The vast majority of donations (98%) are paid with iDEAL.
Additional information with donations
In 2023, 70% of all donors left a name with their donation. 44% of all donors left their email addresses when donating, an increase of 32% compared to 2022.
Conclusion
2023 was a positive year for online collection, with impressive donation amounts and high average revenues per collection box. A positive development is that online collections have taken a permanent place next to traditional collections and are increasingly used for campaigns.
We expect Digicollect to remain an accessible tool for online collections in 2024 and are excited about our customers' creative campaigns!
